Romania’s Prime Minister-designate Liviu Negoita Wednesday said he declined the prime minister position, citing new “political movements” in Romania.

Negoita said that, in the light of recent events on the political stage, parliamentary parties and newly reelected President Traian Basescu must find a way to form a new political majority.
He also pointed out that if the Parliament had given its confidence vote to the government he had proposed, Romania would have received the third tranche of the EUR23 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund.
On October 13, Romanian lawmakers gave a no-confidence vote to the government run by Prime Minister Emil Boc and later on refused to hold a vote for the new Cabinet proposed by Negoita. Thus, Boc's government continues to run the country with limited powers until a new government is sworn in.
Basescu, who was recently validated by the Constitutional Court as President of Romania, is expected to designate a new prime minister soon.
Romania's Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) recently said it stands by decision to have a democrat liberal running the country's future government.
