Romanian Social Democrat Adrian Nastase Voted “For Normality”

The president of the Romanian social democrat National Council, Adrian Nastase voted Sunday, in the presidential elections, saying he voted “for normality”, but refused to vote in the referendum for a single-chamber Parliament.

Adrian Nastase, who was a contender in the 2004 presidential elections but lost to Traian Basescu , said that he voted „for change, for a return to normality, for wisdom and national solidarity, for a serious candidate, one who is capable of uniting the nation’s forces in an extremely difficult time.”

About 18 million eligible voters are expected to cast ballots Sunday to elect a new president and say whether they want the country’s Parliament downsized to a single chamber and a maximum 300 lawmakers instead of the current 471. Polls close at GMT1900.
