Adrian Nastase, who was a contender in the 2004 presidential elections but lost to Traian Basescu , said that he voted „for change, for a return to normality, for wisdom and national solidarity, for a serious candidate, one who is capable of uniting the nation’s forces in an extremely difficult time.”

About 18 million eligible voters are expected to cast ballots Sunday to elect a new president and say whether they want the country’s Parliament downsized to a single chamber and a maximum 300 lawmakers instead of the current 471. Polls close at GMT1900.
