Romania’s President Calls For Dialogue Between Politicians

Romania’s President Traian Basescu said Monday, after he was sworn in for a second term, that his reelection is due to the fact that he has taken up the task of modernizing the country.

Basescu said he was reelected president because he wants to enforce legitimate measures to reform the country.

He highlighted that, two decades after the Communist regime was overthrown, Romania makes a new step to reformation.

The President said the country's reformation and its becoming a true member of the European Union represent a shared responsibility.

Basescu added the experience he gained during his first term as president will help him avoid mistakes in the future, and highlighted it is time for dialogue between politicians, irrespective of their political affiliation.
