Romanian President Traian Basescu said Friday he did not have talks with central bank Governor Mugur Isarescu to convince him to accept the prime minister position.

Basescu said in a news conference at the end of the winter European Council session that "it is time decency was considered", adding he read in Friday's newspapers he tries to lure liberals into endorsing Isarescu for prime minister.
"I had no talks with Mugur Isarescu on this topic," Basescu said.
Basescu urged Romanian journalists to adopt a "level of minimum decency in relation to Romania's presidency."
Democrat liberal sources cited by Gandul daily on its online edition said Basescu is trying to convince the central bank governor to accept the prime minister chair.
