Romania’s President OKs Law Against Sports Violence
Romania’s president Traian Basescu on Tuesday signed the decree to promulgate the Law regarding the prevention and fight against violence in sporting events.

The draft law regarding the prevention and fight against violence in sporting events, brought forth by Dumitru Dragomir, the president of the Romanian Professional Football League was approved by the Chamber of Deputies in December.
According to the law, the highest fine, between 1000 lei (EUR1- RON3.5925) and RON3000 or serving 150 to 300 of community hours is to be enforced on fans that enter the playing field. Moreover, ticket sealpers are to be fined with sums between RON1000 and RON3000.
For sporting event organizers, fines could reach sums to up to RON5000, as well as a six months suspension.
Event organizers are forbidden to grant access into the stadium to people who are visibly drunk, who possess alcoholic drinks, guns and any weapons of the sort.
The supporter group leaders criticized the stipulations of the law and called them abnormal. They added they would ask president Basescu not to promulgate the law.
