Romania’s Rompetrol Ups Pump Prices By RON0.04/Liter

Rompetrol increased its Efix 95 gasoline price to RON4.12 per liter. One liter of Premium Euro 4 gasoline will cost RON4.16, while one liter of unleaded Euro Super 98 will cost RON4.72, Rompetrol said.  

The company hiked Super Euro 5 diesel prices to RON4.79 per liter, and the Efix Diesel prices to RON4.51 per liter.

Rompetrol, majority-owned by Kazahkstan’s KazMunaiGas, hiked the fuel prices five times this year.

Rompetrol has modified its gasoline prices by RON0.1 per liter and the diesel prices by RON0.13 per liter since the beginning of the year.

The constant growth of oil and fuel prices in Romania, the only country with crude-oil resources in the European Union, questions the strategy of Romania’s dominant oil company Petrom (SNP.RO), Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian said mid-May.

Since the beginning of the year, Petrom, owned by Austria’s OMV, has hiked fuel prices nine times. Fuel prices have grown by 10-12% since the beginning of the year.

The oil companies hiked the fuel prices due to the crude oil’s record price on the international markets. Last week, the crude oil price was $135 per barrel.
