Romanians Euro 2008 Holiday 40% More Expensive In Austria Than At Home
"During the EURO 2008 only the Swiss, the Swedes and the Italians will be able to afford more in Austria than they can at home, due to our high standard of living (…) The Russians, Romanians and Turks will get drastically less for their euros at the European championship than at home," Bank Austria, member of UniCredit group, said in a report.
Analysts said EUR100 in Romania are worth only EUR58 in Austria, and a lower level among analyzed countries is registered only in Russia, where a domestic EUR100 would be worth only EUR54 in Austria.
The Polish domestic EUR100 would be worth EUR76 in Austria, while the French, Germans, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese will find prices in Austria similar to their domestic prices.
Greeks and Czechs will pay 10-20% at the Euro 2008 than they would at home.
The report notes that the price levels refer to the average price of goods and services in the individual analyzed countries, and prices for individual products could differ substantially, especially for tourists.
