The High Court of Justice had initially planned to issue a ruling on the anticorruption prosecutors’ arrest proposal Thursday evening.

Judge Corina Jijie decided to postpone the hearing, as defense lawyers asked for time to look into the file.

Anticorruption prosecutors Thursday placed judge Costiniu and businessmen Locic and Casuneanu under arrest for corruption.

Social democrat senator Catalin Voicu was placed under arrest on March 23 for fraud and influence peddling, in the same file.

Costiniu was placed under arrest for receiving bribe from Casuneanu to intervene in a case regarding certain public procurement contentions.

According to prosecutors, Voicu claimed and received 119,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.1128) in August 2009 from Locic whom he promised to intervene with the police in a criminal case.
