Iulian Costea, the group’s marketing director for Southeast Europe, said the program aims to form partnerships with top providers of marketing or IT services. He explained that Alcatel-Lucent will not outsource these activities but they will simply have a common source.
Alcatel-Lucent has implemented several restructuring programs since 2006, when the French group Alcatel merged with the American Lucent Technologies. The latest wave of layoffs, in December 2008, slashed over 1,000 jobs.
The group is present on the Romanian market since 1991 and mid-2009 it had a staff of about 1,600, most of them in Timisoara, western Romania, where Alcatel-Lucent operates a research and development center.
The company obtained a EUR30 million net profit in Romania last year, with a EUR192 million turnover.
