Transport Minister Radu Berceanu on Wednesday met with Japan’s Ambassador to Bucharest, Natsuo Amemiya, who told Berceanu the Japanese Government decided to grant Romania a Japanese ODA (Overseas Development Aid) Loan to help extend Bucharest’s subway network towards Otopeni.
According to the technical project, the subway line, meant to connect the city’s main train station to the international airport, should be completed in seven years and will be nearly 16 kilometers long, will have 19 stops, one depot and will cost a total EUR1.05 billion to make and equip. The new subway line should carry 50,000 passengers per hour.
