It also decided to increase excise taxes by EUR100, up to EUR165/hectoliter, for intermediary products, which are part of the same category of fermented drinks, but have a higher level of alcohol.
Excise taxes will be increased through an emergency decree aimed at fighting tax evasion, which will be approved by the Government in its meeting next week.
Under current laws, non-carbonated fermented drinks are not subject to excise taxes, while intermediary drinks are subject to excise tax of EUR65/hectoliter per product.
Non-carbonated fermented drinks include cider and fruit-based fermented drinks, and intermediary drinks have a higher level of alcohol.
