Supreme Court judges finished debates on the file "Cocaine for VIPs" on October 14 when the case prosecutor asked the Supreme Court to send the file back to the Court of Appeals for a retrial.
On the other hand, Tiriac lawyer told judges the case has been tried for way too long and stressed the appeals court was provided with all necessary evidence to clear Tiriac Jr. of charges.
On February 23, 2009, the judges with the Bucharest Court of Appeals cleared Tiriac Jr. of charges, on grounds there was no solid evidence to incriminate him.
On June 24, 2004, Romanian prosecutors ordered a criminal probe against Tiriac Jr. o charges of drug dealing and consumption.
Tiriac Jr. at that time told the court he does not smoke, drink or take any drugs, stressing he had never taken drugs and that cocaine parties mentioned in witnesses' testimonies never took place.
