But ANRE said in a statement gas prices should have been increased significantly, and that a decision will be made in January 2008. The authority did not say by how much prices for natural gas should be hiked.
E.ON Gaz Romania said recently it sees the country's consumers of natural gas facing a price hike of nearly 10% in January, and a total 30% price increase by the end of the year.
However, Romanian analysts said that a 30% increase in administered prices would boost inflation by 2 percentage points to 5.8%.
The central bank has set an inflation target of 2.8%-3.8% for next year’s inflation.
