Works will be funded with EU money, through the Regional Development Fund, and money from the state budget, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The project, whose indicators were approved in Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, will cover the rehabilitation and modernization of train stations Alexandria, Bistrita, Botosani, Braila, Calaraşi, Giurgiu, Piatra-Neamt, Pitesti, Ramnicu-Valcea, Resita Sud, Sfantul Gheorghe, Slatina, Slobozia, Targu Mures, Vaslui and Zalau.

Four other projects approved by the Government target modernization of mechanical centralization installations on the routes Ilia-Lugoj (RON81.7 million, due for completion in 24 months), Siculeni-Adjud (RON173 million, due for completion in 36 months), 112 railroad crossings (RON105.8 million, due for completion in 34 months) and the development of a detection system for overheated breaks (RON97.1 million, due for completion in 29 months).
