Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc said Tuesday evening on B1 TV the extra 13th monthly salary per year for 2009 will be granted to public sector employees until April 2010, depending on budget loans approved by the Finance Ministry, but stressed this salary will no longer be paid in 2011 for 2010.

"The extra 13th monthly salary for 2009 will be paid until April 2010. However, this salary will no longer be paid in 2011 for 2010," said Boc.
Late January this year, Labor Minister Mihai Seitan said employees in the public sector will not be granted a 13th monthly salary after current collective labor contracts expire, as this particular salary right is only stipulated in such contracts.
Romania's government recently adopted an ordinance that maintains into force the collective labor contracts already signed and valid until October, including the salary rights they stipulate.
