Also, a first contingent of Afghan officers is to arrive in Romania for training soon, Basescu said during a joint press statement alongside NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
The Romanian head of state said 12 scholarships have been granted to afghan students in civilian universities and Romania will continue to increase the number of scholarships for young Afghans.
In turn, Rasmussen said he appreciates Romania's commitment to NATO's objectives and the alliance is counting on Romania's support next years as well, when it plans to start transition of power to local authorities in Afghanistan.
