The overall value of the project is of some EUR200 million.
“This project must start as soon as possible. We need an alternative to Prahova Valley (a renowned tourist region between Bucegi and Baiului Mountains, some 100 kilometers from capital Bucharest – e.n.). The ministry has allocated financing to develop ski areas in the Carpathians, but we didn’t know about the existence of this particular project when you’ve made the list; however, it will be included on this list,” Udrea said.
“You have the Tourism Ministry’s support. If you want the project ready in two years, then we must start it as soon as possible,” she said to local authorities in Dambovita.
Udrea did not say how much the ministry will allocate for the project.
The project includes building several ski slopes, swimming pools, special fields for winter sports, cable cars, parking lots, water installations and snow cannons, as well as hotels and related road infrastructure.
The new mountain resort, to be located in Padina-Pestera area in the Bucegi, will link by cable the resorts in Prahova Valley and Moeciu-Rucar-Bran.
