Romania Under Yellow Code Advisory For Rainstorms, Excessive Heat Friday Through Monday

Romanian meteorologists issued a yellow code advisory expecting rainstorms and high temperatures throughout the country Friday night through Monday evening, according to the National Meteorology Administration website.

Rain is expected Friday night through Saturday morning in the western and northwestern parts of the country, and Saturday and Sunday in central Romania and in hill and mountain areas.

Precipitation will exceed 50 l/mp in some areas, said meteorologists.

The excessive heat alert is valid for the south and southeastern parts of the country until Monday afternoon. The heat index, which combines air temperature and relative humidity to determine the felt air temperature, will exceed the critical threshold of 80.

Temperatures will top 35 degrees Celsius.
