Romanian actor Nicu Constantin died Tuesday, at age 70, following a cardiac arrest after four months of hospitalization due to severe pulmonary illness.

Bucharest Military Hospital Commander Ioan Sarbu told MEDIAFAX actor Nicu Constantin died at 4.45 p.m.. Doctors managed to resuscitate him from an initial cardiac arrest at 2 p.m but he died two hours later.
Constantin was born on July 31, 1939, in Romanian seaside town Eforie Sud. He went to the Civil Marine School in Constanta and the School of Arts in Bucharest.
He was a star of the "Constantin Tanase" Satire Theater in Bucharest between 1960 and 2000, where he held over 9000 performances. Between 1979 and 1982, he was an actor of the National Operetta Theater. He attended over 600 radio shows and over 300 television shows. He received the Cultural Order Class I and in 2001 he became an honorary citizen of the Romanian seaside town of Eforie.
