Porgras scored a 15,366, the top mark of the day, which brought her gold at the balance beam finals, the first medal of Romania’s delegation at the World Championship in Rotterdam.

Porgras was closely followed by silver medallists Rebecca Bross (USA) and Deng Linlin (China), both tied with a 15.233. The bronze medal was not awarded at the balance beam event.

Romanian gymnasts Sandra Izbasa and Diana Chelaru are to compete in the floor finals at the World Championship in Rotterdam.

Porgras was part of the Romanian team at the 2010 European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships held from 28 April to 2 May, 2010 in Birmingham. She helped the Romanian team qualify in second place by competing on balance beam and uneven bars. Individually, she qualified first on beam and seventh on bars. She helped the team win the bronze medal by earning the top mark of the day on beam (14.800) and by scoring 13.700 on uneven bars.

Porgras is considered to be one of the most artistic gymnasts of her generation, reminiscent of the Eastern European gymnasts of the 1980s.
