Romanian Anticorruption Prosecutors Detain Mayor Charged With Bribery, Forgery

Prosecutors have searched Solomon's office, his apartment in Craiova and his villa located in Leamna.

Judicial sources said Solomon is suspected of having taken EUR50,000 bribe from FC Arges owner Cornel Penescu to release a construction permit allowing Penescu to have a PIC store built in Craiova.

During searches, prosecutors lifted a series of documents regarding the land plot where PIC store in Craiova is built, as well as papers involving its construction.

Solomon said he had to release the respective construction permit, or the representatives of the respective company would have filed criminal complaint against him. Solomon stressed his actions were perfectly legal.
