Romanian Anticorruption Prosecutors Indict Ex Agriculture Ministers In Graft Case

Romanian anticorruption prosecutors indicted former agriculture ministers Traian Decebal Remes charged with favoring a firm to win a public procurement auction in exchange for a luxury car, food products and EUR15,000.

Remes, the country’s agriculture minister from April to October 2007, is charged with influence peddling and Muresan, agriculture minister in 1997-2000, is charged with accessory to influence peddling, the anticorruption department DNA said.
 
Businessman Gheorghe Ciorba, owner of the favored firm, is also indicted in the file, charged with bribery.
 
The file was sent for trial at the High Court of Justice.
