Romanian Anticorruption Prosecutors Indict Ex-Secret Service Head Timofte

Romanian anticorruption prosecutors on Monday indicted Radu Timofte, the former head of the Romanian Intelligence Service SRI, and four other former and current employees of the service, on charges of abuse of office and forgery in Timofte’s home acquisition.

Alongside Timofte, charged with instigating abuse of office and two counts of forgery, anticorruption prosecutors also indicted Virgil Turcu, former head of the secrete service’s logistics department, Dumitru Ionete, former adviser to the deputy-manager of the service, officer Gheorghe Robu and former officer SRI Ion Tudor, on charges of abuse of office.
