Fees On RCA Policies Fail To Cover Insurers’ Costs – Romanian Insurance Commission

According to Buzoianu, the data offered by CSA indicate that the value of damages on the segment of RCA policies rose 50% in the first nine months of the year, while the average indemnity rose 21%, to 3,539 lei (EUR1=RON3.7835).

Moreover, the average premium paid by an RCA insured rose to RON290, compared with RON260 in the first nine months of 2007.

Buzoioanu added that premiums on the segment of RCA policies rose 18%, while premiums on the segment of voluntary car insurance CASCO rose 42.3%.

He also said that RCA policies cover nearly 85% of the national car park, which is similar to 2007.

CSA data also indicate that the number of RCA policies registered in the special database of CEDAM information center translates into 3,447,208 contracts end-September, up 3.5% on the year, while the number of RCA policies issued and valid end-September translates into 3,856,528 contracts.
