In December and January, the frontier police in Arad found over 45 tons of perfume bottles.
They were bound to be sold on the black market in the Schengen area.
Authorities seized over 114,000 perfume containers, which had the labels of famous brands and were under suspicion of being fake.
If they were sold on the market at the price of the original products, the total value of the perfumes would have amounted to EUR1,600,000.
Frontier police said in most cases perfumes were hidden in trucks. Perfumes were hidden in the boxes among the merchandise declared at the frontier, or there have been cases where trucks were full of perfume containers only, although documents showed other goods.
Analysis proved such infringements were made by Turk citizens, followed by Poles and Bulgarian citizens.
