Romanian Businessmen Assoc Asks Govt For 3-Yr Fiscal Strategy
Romanian Businessmen Association AOAR asked the government and the Finance Ministry to draft a fiscal strategy for at least 3 years, saying that the government’s contradictory statements on various fiscal measures in 2009 and 2010 are confusing for the business environment.

Constantin Nita, the minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade and Environment Business, stated Friday that the SMEs Ministry will propose the Government to drop the minimum yearly tax in the autumn.
According to a government decision, starting with May 1, companies will pay an annual minimum tax based on their revenues. Thus, a company will pay a 2,200 lei (EUR1=RON4.1380) tax if its total revenues do not exceed RON52,000, while the maximum ceiling was set at RON43,000 tax for revenues exceeding RON129 million.
AOAR also reminded the Finance Ministry that it promised in January a multiannual budget schedule, for a better predictability of the state budget and the public money spending.
The association representatives consider inacceptable the continuous issuing of emergency ordinances amending the Tax Code, the Tax Procedure Code and other regulations.
AOAR also noticed a lower transparency of the Finance Ministry activities, mainly as regards the public investment funding, triggering concerns as regards the spending of the public money to support the economy.
Thus, the businessmen association asked the government for new consultations regarding the supplementary economic measures necessary to fructify the economic growth resources starting with 2009.
