Romanian Carmaker Dacia 2009 Profit At RON230.28M - Unaudited Results

In 2008, the Romanian carmaker posted a profit of RON222.02 million.

At the end of 2009, Dacia's receivables stood at RON851.99 million, while the carmaker's debts stood at RON1.51 billion.

Automobile Dacia's absorption of chassis maker Auto Chassis International Romania targets to simplify Renault's legal organization in Romania, according to the merger draft published in Romania's Official Journal.

The data in the merger draft is unaudited and has not yet been approved by shareholders, Dacia told MEDIAFAX.

"The final earnings report will be changed and/or approved in the general shareholders' meeting that will also decide the merger, in spring. Official results will be made available then," Dacia officials said.

The carmaker also said the report is an estimate in view of the merger and doesn't represent its statement to authorities.

Then merger targets a significant cut in administrative and operating costs. Auto Chassis International (ACI) was founded in 1999 as a division of the Renault group and the Romanian unit was opened in 2002. The company makes chassis for Dacia and Renault.

In 2009, Dacia sold 311,282 vehicles, up 20.5% from 2008 boosted by clunkers programs in Western Europe, but its sales in Romania declined by more than 50%, to 41,862 cars, the carmaker said in January. In 2008, the carmaker sold 258,372 cars, of which 84,708 in Romania.
