Romanian Carmaker Dacia Sees Biggest Car Registration Increase On French Mkt In May
Registrations of Romanian new Dacia cars in France increased over three times in May, to 10,258 units, compared to the same month last year, and saw the biggest increase on the local market, which fell 11.5%, to about 186.340 cars.

Dacia ranks second on the French market by the number of new car registrations in May, after Germany's Volkswagen with 11,752 new car registrations, according to the association of French carmakers.
Dacia also ranks second on the French market regarding its market share for cars, which rose to 5.5% in May this year, from 1.6% in the same month in 2009.
French carmaker Renault, owner of Automobile Dacia, saw a 13.8% increase in the number of new car registrations, to 51,388 units, and its market share increased to 27.6% in May 2010, from 21.5% in May 2009. Registrations of new Renault cars shrank 1.7%, to 41,130 cars.
Renault's main French competitor, PSA Peugeot Citroen, reported the largest number of new car registrations in May (61,404 cars), down 13.1% compared to the same month last year. Its market share rose to 33% in May 2010, from 33.6% in May 2009.
On the segment of light commercial vehicles, Dacia's registrations increased to 10,698 units in May this year, from 3,791 units in the same month last year, in the context in which the French market fell 10,3%, to 218,533 units. Volkswagen ranks first on the French market by the number of light commercial vehicle registrations (12,732 units), followed by Dacia and Ford (10,517 units).
