The president said the education system fails to meet market requirements, adding it is not relevant for the country’s economy and future.

Basescu also pointed out that the achievements of Romanian students lag far behind the global average.

Moreover, Basescu thinks the country’s healthcare system is inefficient and lacks transparency in using funds, adding Romania is among the last European Union states in terms of people’s health.

According to the head of state, citizens still lack the information allowing them to make the right decision when selecting a healthcare provider, as their decision should be based on public data on the achievements of sanitary units, the number of surgeries, the number of complications and the extent to which the respective units meet their patients’ needs.
