Romanian Chamber Speaker Makes Huge Diplomatic Blooper-Opposition MP

 “It is one thing to retort a more or less justified criticism, and other to direct a personal attack toward a high ranking official of an allied state. Bogdan Olteanu made a monumental diplomatic blooper,” Geoana said.

He said Olteanu should apologize to US Ambassador Nicholas Taubman.  

On Thursday, Taubman criticized plans to change Romanian law, which he said would make it harder to fight crime and corruption.

Olteanu retorted that Taubman obtained his mandate in a manner that would be dubbed “corruption” in Romania, adding that „in Romania, legislation is made by Romanians.”
