Romanian Chamber Speaker To Suggest Justice Minister Candidate

Romanian liberal Bogdan Olteanu, chairman of the Chamber of Deputies said Thursday he will propose that Norica Nicolai take over the vacant position of justice minister.

 “During the Monday meeting of the Standing Office of the National Liberal Party, I will forward the proposal that Norica Nicolai be appointed justice minister,” said Olteanu, admitting the candidate is highly supported by liberal members.

Former justice minister Tudor Chiuariu Thursday said that his successor would probably be appointed at the beginning of next week.

Chiuariu submitted his resignation Monday afternoon to the Office of Prime Minister Tariceanu.

Chiuariu announced his resignation Sunday in a press conference.
