“Gandul” daily wrote in its Wednesday edition that a Romanian woman left the police station in Torino with bruised arms, after she was abused by Italian police officers.

Nina P, 35, said that police officers called her names and physically abused her.” I was crying and telling them to let me go. When we reached their office, I could no longer feel my hands. I asked them to give me a glass of water because I was feeling sick but they did it only when one of their superiors entered the room,” the woman recounts.

Romania’s consul in Torino said that authorities are checking to see if what the woman told is true. She said she legally works in Italy.
According to Dumitrescu, the woman did not write in her complaint that she was beaten.

The official said he contacted the police station in question where he was confirmed that the woman wished to evade interrogations and she was brought back by police officers. However, nothing was said about officers physically abusing her.

Two lawyers and an interpreter are to check if the woman’s accusations are real. Dumitrescu also said he notified the Prefecture of Torino regarding the incident.
