Romanian citizen Nicolae Romulus Mailat, charged with killing, robbing and sexually assaulting Italian Giovanna Reggiani, was sentenced to 29 years imprisonment, Italian media informed.

Giovanna Reggiani, aged 47, was assaulted near the Tor de Quinto train station in Rome, on October 30, 2007, and her body was found abandoned in a ditch.

Italian prosecutors requested Tuesday a life imprisonment verdict for Romanian citizen Romulus Nicolae Mailat, tried in Rome, accused of murdering Giovanna Reggiani, in October 2007, La Reppublica informed online.
