The measure was enacted by the Israeli commission for home affairs and the protection of the environment, at the request of the Israeli Ministry of Interior and the support of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The decision was taken based on Romania’s accession to the European Union, whose citizens do not need a visa to travel into Israel.
According to sources within the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, legal procedures in Israel stipulate the decision needs to be published in the country’s Official Gazette with a three-month grace period before it becomes effective.
