The wage fund of the Civil Aviation Authority is to be lowered 7.5% to RON6.36 million from RON8.23 million and the authority could increase its number of employees by 40, to a total 234, according to a draft government decision drawn up by the Ministry of Transport.
The civil aviation regulator’s revenues are set to increase slightly to RON42.85 million this year from RON42.12 million in 2008, while expenses are seen lowered by 2.5%, to RON38.06 million from RON39.04 million. The regulator could thus report a pre-tax profit of RON4.78 million this year, up 55.4% compared to 2008, when it reported a profit of RON3.07 million.
The regulator has RON10.14 million earmarked for investments, a budget 14 times higher than that set for last year, of RON722,190, from its own sources.
At the end of June, transport minister Radu Berceanu dismissed the civil aviation regulator’s general manager Adrian Vasilache and replaced him with Claudia Varlan. The minister also said at that time that employees’ wages would be reduced 25% and wage bonuses would be lowered.
