Romanian Communications Minister Gabriel Sandu told MEDIAFAX that he will step down from the position he took up in December 2008.

People close to the matter said Sorin Mandrutescu, the head of Oracle Romania, and democrat liberal MP Valerian Vreme are being considered to replace Sandu.

Prime Minister Emil Boc on Thursday sacked Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu, Labor Minister Mihai Seitan and Agriculture Minister Mihail Dumitru. In addition, Economy Minister Adriean Videanu said he is considering leaving the Government in order to focus on the ruling Democratic Liberal Party PDL.
