"It is a complicated situation, because it is an unprecedented case, a very serious one, since the institution is currently suspended for 45 days, and employees are currently under temporary unemployment," Csendes said.

 

He added that CNSAS will hold a meeting next week.

Csendes feels that Romanian political parties will agree and make the law constitutional.

 

Cazimir Ionescu, CNSAS member, stated that the Constitutional Court decision does not say that the entire CNSAS law and the institution itself are unconstitutional.

 

"The institution is not unconstitutional, and neither is the law on its organization and functioning. There is an exaggerated interpretation of the decision. Nothing leads to the conclusion that the entire law is unconstitutional, only that there are unconstitutional elements in there. The decision does not say that the law is repealed and that the institution ceases activity once the law is repealed," said Cazimir Ionescu in a press conference.

 

Cazimir Ionescu said that one cannot simply repeal all decisions made with this law as basis.

 

He added that while the Parliament is working to solve these issues, CNSAS will be able to do research, but it cannot issue decisions.
