Romanian Daniel Constantin was elected the Conservative Party president, defeating his only contender Petre Marginean in internal elections held Sunday.

Constantin got 975 votes, while Marginean secured 398 of the votes.
The internal election for party president was held between Constantin, a former EU counselor with the Agriculture Ministry and the Agency for Payments and Interventions in Agriculture former president, and Marginean, leader of the party's branch in Hunedoara, western Romania.
Constantin's election as party leader was no big surprise, as he was backed by the party's heavyweights.
