Natal and Sao Paulo are two logistic points on the narcotics transport route, Globo writes, adding the traffickers are using the Augusto Severo airport in Natal to pick up the drugs brought from Sao Paulo or the send the drugs to this city.

According to the quoted source, the Romanians were traveling from Europe to Brazil carrying a certain type of drugs.

Several routes have been discovered. Thus, in a series of cases recently uncovered by Federal Police, the Romanians came out of Portugal and went through Sao Paulo, or went directly to the Rio Grande do Norte area. In another situation, the Romanians first crossed countries such as Holland, Belgium or Portugal before arriving in Rio Grande do Norte, where they were caught red handed.

Globo also describes the series of recent arrests. Thus, one Romanian aged 18 was arrested on May 17 while carrying two kilograms of cocaine. The suspect allegedly left Romania for Portugal, from where he left towards Sao Paulo. Two days earlier, on May 15, federal police arrested on the Augusto Severo airport another Romanian citizen, aged 35, found to be carrying 21,000 pills of ecstasy. The drugs were discovered in a hidden compartment in the luggage, during an inspection performed by police officers in the international arrivals section. The Romanian had gotten off a flight from Lisbon and said he had left Holland through Belgium and then through Portugal, from where he went towards Rio Grande do Norte. The suspect was supposed to return to Holland carrying another type of drugs.

Police discovered, on May 10, another Romanian, aged 19, who was carrying one kilogram of cocaine hidden in tooth paste tubes and deodorant and shampoo bottles.

On May 6, one Romanian aged 31 was arrested by police while holding 1.56 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were wrapped in plastic and duct tape, and were sewn into a backpack pocket. The Romanian had allegedly left Portugal for Sao Paulo, and was supposed to return to Romania from there.
