In July, the number of Dacia registrations on the French market decreased by 49%, to 4,577 units, the largest decline on the market, which shrunk 6% to 160,000 units.
The Romanian carmaker’s market share dropped to 3.78% in the first seven months of 2011, from 5.08% in the same interval in 2010. In July, the share also dropped, to 2.86% from 5.26% the year before.
In a ranking of the 100 best-selling car models in the first seven months of the year, Dacia’s SUV, the Duster, is 10th, with 30,305 sold units and a 2.2% market share. Sandero is 20th, with 16,330 sold units and a 1.2% market share, and Logan is 54th with 5,676 sold units and a 0.4% market share.
The best-sold model on the French market is the Peugeot 207/206+, with 100,872 units and a 7.3% share, followed by the Renault Clio, with 91,615 units and a 6.6% share of the market.
Renault, Dacia’s owner, sold 331,787 cars in the first seven months, 12.2% less than in the same period last year. The Renault brand’s sales declined 9.1% to 279,476 units.
