Romanian Dacia Duster Was Best Sold SUV On Local Market In 2010

The Dacia Duster, Volkswagen Tiguan and Ford Kuga were the best sold SUVs on the Romanian market in 2010, with the Duster far in the lead, thanks to a market share of almost 40%, according to the data of the Romanian Car Producers and Importers Association (APIA).

Romanian carmaker Dacia’s first SUV model is followed in the ranking by the Volkswagen Tiguan, which held 6% of the market in 2010. Third place went to the Ford Kuga, with almost 5%. The remaining positions in the top 10 are held by the Hyundai ix35, BMW X5, Volkswagen Touareg, BMW X6, Audi Q5, Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V, respectively.

SUV sales in Romania climbed 21% last year, to 12,256 units, due to the launch of the Duster model. The segment made up 11.5% of the total car sales last year, which dropped 18.3% from 2009, to 106,328 units.
