Romanian Dacia New Registrations Dn 13.2% On French Mkt In October
Registrations of Romanian new Dacia cars in France dropped 13.2% on the year in October, to 5,646 units, as registrations of foreign brands declined 17.4% on a market that shrunk 18.7%.

Dacia's market share rose to 3.2% in October, from 3.1% in the same month last year, according to data from the committee of French carmakers (CCFA). Among non-French brands, the Romanian carmaker was overtaken by Volkswagen (11,735 units), Ford (8,470 units), Toyota and Lexus (5,961 units) and Opel (5,874 units). Dacia sold more than Fiat (5,442 units), Nissan (4,520 units) and Audi (4,315 units).
Taking into account data regarding light commercial vehicles, Dacia's registrations dropped 14.4%, to 5,927 units in October 2010, as the size of the market dropped 14.2%, to 208,323 units.
French car brand PSA Citroen Peugeot kept its top position on the French market in October, with 55,501 new registrations, down 17.3% from October 2009, with a 32.4% share of the market.
The Renault Group, owner of Romanian Automobile Dacia, lost market share, going from 26.7% in October 2009 to 25.7% last month. Registrations of Renault cars fell 21.9%, to 43,989 units.
German group Volkswagen places first among foreign brands marketed in France, with 19,663 new car registrations, followed by the USA's Ford with 9,566 units.
Foreign brands registered a 45.3% market share in October, with 77,598 new car registrations. Overall, 171,449 cars were registered on the French market in October, down 1.2%.
Dacia registrations increased 92.8% in the first nine months of 2010, compared to the same period of last year, to 87,124 new cars.
