Romanian Dacia New Registrations Up 11.8% On French Mkt In November

Dacia's market share rose to 4.2% in November, from 3.4% in the same month last year, according to data from the committee of French carmakers (CCFA). Among non-French brands, the Romanian carmaker was overtaken by Volkswagen (12,826 units), Ford (9,165 units), and Opel (9,077 units). There were, however, more registrations of Dacia automobiles than of Fiat, Nissan or Toyota.

Taking into account data regarding light commercial vehicles, Dacia's registrations increased 10%, to 8,682 units in November 2010, as the size of the market dropped 8.3%, to 230,152 units.

French car brand PSA Citroen Peugeot kept its top position on the French market in November, with 63,012 new registrations, down 11.5% from November 2009, with a 32.5% share of the market.

The Renault Group, owner of Romanian Automobile Dacia, gained market share, going from 26.2% in November 2009 to 26.3% last month. Registrations of Renault cars dropped 10.6%, to 50,951 units.

German group Volkswagen places first among foreign brands marketed in France, with 21,384 new car registrations, followed by General Motors Europe with 11,278 units.

Foreign brands registered a 45.4% market share in November, with 88,224 new car registrations. Overall, 193,970 cars were registered on the French market in November.

Dacia registrations increased 81.5% in the first ten months of 2010, compared to the same period of last year, to 95,354 new cars.
