Romania's Supreme Defense Council on Monday authorized the use of Romanian aerodromes by United States military aircraft, for aerial refueling, as part of the operation to enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1973.

The authorization was given on the basis of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the USA, said a Presidency press release.
Last week, the Council decided that Romania will take part in the military operations in Libya with the "Regele Ferdinand" frigate and 207 troops. This operation will cost EUR4.5 million.
