Trandafir said that while she agrees with the public sector wage cuts, she opposes pension cuts and believes an alternative solution can be found.
Trandafir added that she will "definitely" be dismissed from the party for not conforming to its policies, but that she "was only a politician for a month" and is not daunted by this possibility.
Presidential adviser Sebastian Lazaroiu told Gandul Monday that Trandafir's statement is part of a plan she devised during her by-election candidacy, to resign from the democrat liberals and join the conservatives. Trandafir denied, adding she has considered a resignation from Parliament, but that such a gesture would be "impolite."
Democrat liberal deputy Daniel Oajdea was asked to leave the party Monday, after he held a ballot with his constituency in Iasi county, eastern Romania, to determine how he should vote on the opposition's no-confidence motion. The voters decided Oajdea should vote to overthrow his party's Government. Democrat liberal vice-president Gheorghe Flutur said the decision would apply to all party members who decide to support the opposition's no-confidence motion.
