The new Cabinet is made up of 15 ministers, plus the prime minister. UDMR holds three ministries – Health, Culture and Environment – in addition to the position of deputy prime minister. Gabriel Oprea, proposed for defense minister, represents the independent MP group.
According to people close to the matter, the draft Government list is as follows: Prime Minister – Emil Boc, Deputy Prime Minister – Marko Bela, Interior – Vasile Blaga, Foreign Affairs – Bogdan Aurescu, Justice- Catalin Predoiu, Economy (and Energy) – Adriean Videanu, Finance – Sebastian Vladescu, Transports – Radu Berceanu, Regional Development and Tourism- Elena Udrea, Education, Youth and Sports – Daniel Funeriu, Health – Laszlo Attila, Agriculture – Orest Onofrei, Culture -Kelemen Hunor, Environment – Attila Korody, Defense – Gabriel Oprea, Communications – Gabriel Sandu.
Romanian President Traian Basescu said Thursday morning, after he announced Emil Boc’s designation as prime minister, that a confidence vote on the new Cabinet should be held by December 23. Basescu also said he wants to be consulted regarding the nominations for ministers who are part of the Supreme Defense Council – Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Economy and Finance.
