Romanian Democrat Liberals Mull Motion Against Car Tax

Romanian democrat liberals (PLD) said Monday they would submit a simple motion in the Chamber of Deputies asking the annulment of the country’s car tax and the restitution of citizens’ money, party president Emil Boc said.

“PDL will initiate a simple motion asking the annulment of the car tax and the restitution of people’s money without trials and without court appeals,” Boc said.

He added the motion would be submitted during the parliament session that starts next Monday and will be signed by 50 democrat liberals.

Boc also said that even though the party has not discussed with other parties, he hopes the initiative would be backed by other political parties as well.

He added the tax is “illegal and immoral”.

“It is illegal because it goes against European directives and it is immoral because there is no correlation between the value of the tax and living standard,” Boc said.
