Democrat liberals also approved of the party’s governing plan. Under the governing plan, called “We think different”, the party plans to ensure the country’s gross domestic product per capita will reach 62% of the European average in 2009-2012, promises an average wage of EUR900 and an average pension of EUR405.
Democrat liberals also promise to set the minimum wage at 50% of the national average wage and create a minimum social pension to help poverty-stricken seniors.
Democrat liberals also promised to assign 6% of GDP to education, vowed to have zero tolerance for corruption and ensure high quality healthcare.
The democrat liberals, formerly led by acting President Traian Basescu, will be among the main contenders at the parliamentary election on November 30, alongside the Liberal Party, whose proposed prime minister is the current leader of the minority government, Calin Tariceanu, and the country’s largest opposition party, the leftist Social Democratic Party, whose president, Mircea Geoana, is also eyeing the prime minister seat.
