Boc stressed that, if liberals keep claiming the prime minister seat, then they will no longer be included in the future right-wing political majority, which will consist of democrat liberals, the Hungarian minority party, other national minorities and independent politicians.
„In politics, there is always time for a second round of talks and I hope liberals will act wisely,” said Boc, adding „PDL stands by decision to have a democrat liberal at the helm of the future government and form a political majority, considering the results of both parliamentary and presidential polls showed the party in the lead.”
Liberal leader Crin Antonescu on Monday said that if a democrat liberal would run the future government, he could not team up and work side by side with democrat liberal ministers boasting a „disastrous activity,” and referred to Boc and ministers Elena Udrea and Adriean Videanu. Antonescu also called on democrat liberals to make a decision regarding the prime minister seat.
Antonescu also said that if liberals’ demands are not met, then, they will be seriously considering switching to opposition, as they will never agree to endorse a minority government formed of democrat liberals, the Hungarian minority party and national minorities.
The Romanian National Liberal Party standing delegation decided Monday to nominate Antonescu for the position of prime minister if the liberals enter government and they get to appoint the prime minister.
Boc said Monday that PDL, which has the largest number of seats in Parliament, believes there should be a right-wing political majority at the helm of the country to include democrat liberals, liberals, the Hungarian minority party, other national minorities and independent politicians.
Romania’s minority government led by Boc collapsed in a no-confidence vote mid-October and has been functioning with limited powers since, as the Parliament has rejected one proposed Cabinet and refused to hold a vote on a second.
